The W.H.O. has declared COVID-19 a pandemic and public health emergency of international concern. Bright Funds has established The 2020 Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund, comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits based in the United States providing emergency response around the world and in the US. Through a single donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations' initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. Given the ever-changing nature of this pandemic and widespread impact, the composition of the nonprofits in this Fund will evolve. Generally this fund will support healthcare, medical needs, vulnerable populations, nutrition/food support at both the local and international level.

A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Taiwan on April 3rd, taking the lives of at least 10 and leaving thousands more injured. This earthquake is the strongest earthquake to reach Taiwan in 25 years, leaving behind damage to infrastructure. Recovery efforts are underway, and the following nonprofits have deployed resources to Taiwan to provide relief.

Bright Funds Foundation is funding the purchase of oxygen concentrators and cylinders. These concentrators will be mobilized to local hospitals through a unique partnership between Direct Relief and United Way Bengaluru in India. Oxygen concentrators are among the most vital items needed to treat people with severe Covid-19, who often arrive at hospitals with extreme hypoxemia. High-flow oxygen concentrators are used in hospitals to treat patients needing intensive care, while low-flow concentrators can help hospitals safely discharge patients who are stable but require at-home breathing support. Direct Relief is providing thousands of oxygen concentrators in response, transported by FedEx, free-of-charge, via two donated 777 charter flights. United Way of Bengaluru in India is also purchasing concentrators and cylinders on behalf of grassroots organizations. They are employing grassroots teams to deliver concentrators and cylinders. With your support, we can alleviate the oxygen shortages faced by district hospitals and save countless lives who are dependent on a regular supply of oxygen to survive. On June 22nd, 2022 a powerful earthquake struck eastern Afghanistan. That afternoon, the toll had already reached at least 1,000 casualties and more than 1,500 more injured. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the 5.9-magnitude earthquake occurred around 1:30 a.m. local time. It was felt across most of the country, and because it took place near the border of Pakistan, the country was also affected. We don't yet know the full magnitude of the disaster, but these organizations are sharing their work and receiving donations so that you can help those affected.

Education is very key in today's society and many kids in the villages of Uganda are missing this opportunity due to poverty which hinders them to obtain education and also scholastic materials. In 2022, I and my family made a decision to support over 60 kids from Primary to University levels to obtain better and meaningful education. We have been catering for school fees and school requirements for boarding section using our savings in Buikwe, Mukono and Jinja districts. But as the economy is hardening and resources becoming very scarce, we have found ourselves not affording to pay for all the kids we started with, yet these are brilliant and promising citizens of tomorrow. It's very painful to see these vulnerable kids drop out of school since they won't be with any means to support them. I hereby request anyone with a good heart to support this cause. As first time of 2025 soon starting in February, we have found ourselves at the crossroads and we call upon all of you from all walks of lives to support us so that these kids can go back to school and also finish their education.
