Help Vietnamese struggling due to COVID Fund
Vietnam is experiencing the worst COVID outbreak since the start of the pandemic. Thousands have died, but the worst is yet to come. Only 1% of the total population has been fully vaccinated. The country is in total lockdown, and millions of unfortunate people cannot work to earn a little income to support their daily living basis. The healthcare system in Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) city, the largest city and also the epicenter of the outbreak, is on the brink of collapse. We’re raising money to provide emergency support to low-income families and frontline workers in Vietnam’s hardest hit communities. With a donation of $8, you can give an essential food package -- containing 5kg of rice, 1 bottle of cooking oil, 1 bottle of soy sauce or fish sauce, and a pack of sardine can -- that can help a person survive for 2 weeks! All donations will be matched by TODO (remove this sentence if your employer doesn’t have a matching policy). Please note "Help Vietnamese struggling due to COVID" in your contribution. All donations will be sent to VietBay Inc., a 501©(3) non-profit organization formed by a group of Vietnamese professionals in the San Francisco Bay Area. All US donations are tax deductible. VietBay Inc. work with The Lotus Charity Foundation (Quỹ Từ thiện Bông Sen), the operator of Quan Com Nu Cuoi, VNHELP, JOY Foundation, and other grassroot groups, to prepare and distribute gift packages and PPE directly to the unfortunate people and medical workers in Vietnam. Henan Flood (河南洪灾) - 2021 Fund
Massive floods in central China caused by record-breaking rainfall have left 12 people dead and more than 100,000 evacuated from their homes. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-57861067 How bad are the floods? The rain began over the weekend, with storms intensifying on Tuesday. By Tuesday night, Zhengzhou and other places in Henan province saw widespread flooding. There were reports online of people swept away by fast-moving floodwaters, and cars and debris drifting down submerged streets. Several dams and reservoirs have breached warning levels, and soldiers have been mobilised to divert rivers which have burst their banks. Flights and train operations in many parts of Henan have also been suspended. They were reportedly provided food at first but this is now said to be in low supply. The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou Hospital also briefly lost power on Tuesday night, though this has now been restored, said a statement on Weibo by the Zhengzhou Municipal Party Committee. It added that 600 critically ill patients had been transferred to another location. A 20-metre (65ft) breach has emerged in the dam in Luoyang city after it was damaged by storms, officials said. Soldiers have been deployed to the area and a statement from the army warned it could "collapse at any time". In Zhengzhou, unverified video footage showed passengers in flooded subway carriages with water reaching their shoulders.

Coronavirus relief in India | 2nd wave Fund
The second wave of COVID is devastating India. Ahmednagar District, where Snehalaya operates is one of the worst-hit with no beds, oxygen, or medicines available to our largely rural population. We are pressuring authorities to improve the situation while also operating our own medical facilities & offering vital support to as many of the 150,000 plus in our district who have tested positive with COVID. Since March 2021 a flood of positive cases has overburdened medical facilities throughout our district and in April we were in the top ten worst-affected districts in India with over 1,000 new cases a day. With high demand & limited medical facilities available for COVID patients it is the poorest in society who are hardest hit. Cases of trafficking, child marriage, and domestic violence are also increasing & access to support is limited by lockdowns. Our 100-bed hospital is currently treating around 3000 COVID patients a day & a 150-bed COVID Care Center has free medical & quarantine facilities for asymptomatic patients & those with mild to moderate symptoms. Outreach work, ambulance services, community radio, and 24/7 helplines are helping us reach 5 million people, including women and children who are victims of the shadow pandemic causing increased domestic violence, child marriage & trafficking cases. Potential Long Term Impact By supporting the most vulnerable groups with medical support during the current second wave we will improve their chances of surviving the pandemic crisis and reduce the number of people requiring our help once the crisis ends. We will also provide women and children with the help and services they need right now and will also help them to rebuild their lives once the pandemic has been contained.
